excellence combined the breathtaking beauty of the remote West Irian
Jaya or Nusa Tenggara Isles during the best times of the season.
During each tour our diving instructors will plan the dives to suit
everyone’s expectations and diving skills.
History and Construction of the Pindito
The Pindito and the name Edi Frommenwiler go hand in hand.
Edi had always dreamed of operating his own business, while working
as a travel guide for adventure holidays all around the globe. He
could convince his investors about the diving project and the
beginning of the conduction of the Pindito was settled. Together
with up to 60 local vessel workers he built the Pindito on a simple
shipyard in less than 12 months and the Pindito watered the
Indonesian Sea for the
first
time in March 1992. Ever since the Pindito offers different tours,
which are all well known by Edi and his crew, in the various regions
of Indonesia, Irian Jaya (Raja Empat), Moluccas, Nusa Tenggara
(small Sunda Isles) and around Bali. Several thousand dives,
uncountable excursions to islands the fact that Edi lives in
Indonesia and speaks the language (Bahasa Indonesia) guarantee that
you will have the unforgettable holiday of your life, thanks to him
and his experienced crew.
The Pindito is dry docked every year; the hull is stripped and
repainted while the main engine and generators are fully serviced.
In addition the vessel receives additional maintenance during the
whole year. This ensures that the Pindito is maintained to the
highest standards of safety and reliability.
Equipment
The wooden and traditional constructions of the Pindito emboss the
cosy and familiar atmosphere on board. The infrastructure on board
ensure a comfortable living on board for all our guests. Our spacey
cabins (6 double and 2 twin bedded cabins for maximum 16 guests)
have all individual air-conditioning, several 220 volt charging
facilities, separate toilet, shower and washbasins. For all Photo-
and Videographers we offer in the lounge our board-computer to
assure that you may complete your digital records and burn your
shots on CDs or DVDs (please bring your own blank CDs and DVDs
along!). Since the new deck is built, the Pindito has a separate
camera-room for the preperations and storage of the camera
equippments. This room offers place to work, storage room and
electricity 24 hours daily (220 volts, 50 hertz, there are also
plugs with 110 volt)
Meals & Drinks
Our cuisine is influenced by international and above all Indonesian
(or Asian) dishes.
Breakfast is served in two slots. A little breakfast is served
before the first dive, whereas the main breakfast-buffet is ready
after the dive, and will meet all expectations.
Lunch and dinner are always a highlight and are mainly influenced by
Indonesian or Chinese cooking. We always serve meat and fish dishes
with different side-orders separately.
Desserts and Sweets as a special treat for everyone shall not be
forgotten here!
In between our crew serves biscuits and cakes, for the little
treats.
At any time you can have tea, coffee or a cool drink out of the
fridge. Drinking water is available all the time too. After the last
dive you may enjoy alcoholic drinks for free (except wine, which has
to be paid extra and ordered well before the cruise starts).
Diving
Our Pindito diving instructors and dive guides look after a safe and
comfortable diving operation. All dives are accompanied by the dive
guides for the guests safety and comfort reasons. If someone wishes
to do the dive on his own ways, this is possible too.
During the last 14 years our Safety-Report is 100%! Day plans and
diving schedules are being adapted individually during each tour.
The diving centre has the following gears: 2 Bauer compressors
(Mariner) as well as a Nitrox-Membran-Filling station (32% NITROX
for free!), 3 zodiacs (pro 500RL), forty 11,2-Liter tanks with DIN/INT
monoplugs, twenty weight belts, BCDs, regulators, lamps, masks and
fins for 4 divers. Furthermore, there are 2 dive computers (to dive
with Nitrox) aboard. A First-Aid-Kit as well as many other tools to
provide perfect service in case of emergency are on board.
A Typical Diving Day
After our nourishing breakfast the assembled dive equipment will be
carried to the zodiacs by our crew, so you’ll never be hassled by
hauling around your gear. After a short ride with our comfortable
zodiacs, you’ll dive into then undersea world. Throughout the whole
dive the zodiacs will accompany you for comfort and safety reasons,
which are both our highest priorities. Back on the Pindito,
refreshing drinks and delicious tidbits will be waiting for you. Or
you enjoy a typical Balinese massage (to be paid directly aboard).
Exchange your diving experiences, while sipping a cool drink and the
videos and pictures taken during your last dive. Usually four dives
a day are scheduled: the first one in the early morning (about 07.30
am), the second in the late morning, the third in the afternoon
(about 02.30 pm), and after dinner you can go for a lovely and
exciting night dive (or sometimes a dusk dive is offered). All dives
are always depending on the weather.
On the day of arrival and departure there are no dives on the
program for safety reasons, just as we do serve alcoholic beverages
only after the last dive of the day!
